MESSAGE: – Open Heavens 15 August 2025 Friday Daily Devotional

Yesterday, I started a discussion about how important it is for you to recharge your spiritual battery by studying, memorising, and meditating on the word of God. Today, I’ll discuss worship as another way you can recharge your spiritual battery. Many people allow the choir to do the worshipping for them in church during services. I thank God for all the spirit-filled choristers around the world who lead powerful praise and worship sessions, but they cannot worship God on your behalf. You must learn to worship God yourself.

In Ephesians 5:18-19, Apostle Paul says: And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; The above Scripture implies that you should sing very often, even in your conversations with other people. Paul specifically says that you should sing hymns because they are inspired by the Holy Spirit. I thank God for the songs and choruses that we have today, but most of them fade with time. Many hymns, however, have stood the test of time; a lot of them were written hundreds of years ago, but they remain evergreen.

In today’s Bible reading, Jesus said that God is a Spirit, and those who worship Him must do so in spirit and in truth because the Father seeks such people to worship Him. When you are a worshipper, the Holy Spirit will seek you out. Worship means reverencing someone or something. When you worship God, you revere Him; you place Him in the highest position in your life. Everyone on earth is a worshipper; people worship one thing or the other. The way to know what a fellow worships is to check what he or she holds in high esteem. For instance, when people cannot do without checking their phones or scrolling through them, such phones have become objects of worship. When someone can do anything for money, that fellow is worshipping money.

Worship also means submission. You submit to whomever or whatever you worship. When you worship God, you are submitting and surrendering your heart to Him so that He can fill it with His power and glory. When you submit to God, He comes and dwells in you.

Beloved, make singing praises to God and worshipping Him your lifestyle. When you engage in these spiritual acts constantly, He will fill you with His Spirit and keep your spiritual battery charged at all times.

Open Heavens 15 August 2025 Friday Commentary

Hallelujah. Our father and the lord made us understand that we must also reveal when we notice that the flesh is trying to rise above the spirit. And there were two ways he taught us to know that the flesh is trying to subdue the spirit. One is the manifestation of anger. We’re made to understand that when you are angry, you may not hear God speak because your flesh has risen above your spirit. In times like this, you would need to seek immediate refill. We also learned that overconfidence can be a sign that you need to recharge your spiritual batteries. When you believe in yourself so much outside of God when you tell yourself ah no me, I go get and in all of your ways and all of your plans you fail to acknowledge the Lord. When this happens, we are made to understand that we must seek immediate refill of the Holy Spirit. Yesterday, we studied the fourth part of the topic always reveal where our father and the lord explained to us certain ways which we can reveal.

He revealed a very important secret to us. The secret of memorizing and meditating upon God’s word. We learned that it is the word of God that you have inside of you that would become the weapons of war that you’d use to bring down the enemy in the day that he attacks. We also made to understand that as good as technology is making it easy for people to search scriptures on the internet. We are made to understand that it can never beat having the scriptures within you. We also learned from that study that when you have the scriptures within you, it will show in your conversations and actions. Today we have before us the fifth part of the topic always reveal. And in today’s study, our father in the Lord reveals to us yet again another way which we can refill our spiritual batteries. And that is through the instrument of praise and worship unto God. Hallelujah. One very important truth which our father and the lord shares with us in today’s study is the fact that nobody can praise or worship God on your behalf. You must thank him, praise him and worship him by yourself. We do not worship God by proxy. Nobody can do it for you. God wants it to come from you. Hallelujah.

This study reveals to us that worship unto God could involve giving him praise. It could involve the customary singing of songs in praise and worship unto God which many of us are used to and we are encouraged in today’s study to ensure that praise never ceases from our lips. We have been admonished today to sing hymns and to sing spiritual songs. We also learn today however that worshiping God does not end with singing of songs. We learn that worship is also esteeming and prioritizing him above every other thing in our lives. So as a child of God, what do you prioritize?

What do you give the highest place in your life? Who do you esteem the most?

Or what is your priority? Have you prioritized your job? Have you literally started worshiping your boss? Has money become an object of worship to you that you can do anything and everything to get it? How about your children or your husband? The family that God gave to you, now they have replaced him in your life. If you put them before God, we learn from today’s study that they have become your object of worship. We also learned from today’s study that worship means submission. submission unto God, obedience unto his voice. When he speaks, do you obey promptly, or you continue to analyze the message until there’s no need to obey anymore? We are made to understand from today’s study that the Holy Spirit always seeks out those who are worshippers of God. We also learned that when we submit to God, he comes and dwells in us. Now, tell me, there is no way God dwells in you. And the enemy would have the leverage to wander to and fro around you. And when the spirit of God seeks you out also as a worshiper of God in truth and in spirit, you can be sure that your life would be filled with his power and evidence of his presence.

I would like us at this point to bow our heads and ask the Lord today would say, “Father, please help me to be a true worshipper in the name of Jesus.”  Ask the Lord today for the grace to let praise always proceed out of our mouths that he would grant us the grace today to sing songs, hymns and spiritual songs in the name of Jesus. Also ask the Lord today say father please grant me the grace to prioritize you above every other thing in my life in the name of Jesus above money above relationships above my family my children my spouse in the name of Jesus above my job above my source of income in the name of Jesus ask the Lord today also say father please help me to be totally submitted to you in the name of Jesus ask the Lord today say father please help me to be submitted to you without holding back any part of myself, withholding nothing, let me surrender all in the name of Jesus. And as we do all this today, ask the Lord, say, “Father, let me receive a refilling to overflow in the name of Jesus. Let my life overflow with your spirit, your power, your presence in the name of Jesus. Begin to thank the Lord for answers to prayers.

Worship him and adore him. Father, we are grateful. Take all the glory. In Jesus’ name we have prayed. Amen. our faithful God and our father in heaven. We are grateful for your word to us today. Thank you for we know that you always desire to fill us to overflow. We’re asking oh Lord that you grant us the grace to be students of your word and to offer our praises and worship onto you. Help us oh Lord that our praise would also go beyond just songs that we will worship you in spirit and in truth esteeming and prioritizing you above every other thing in our lives. Help us also to submit unto you in totality in Jesus’ name. Thank you, our dear father.

In Jesus mighty name we have prayed. Amen. Praise the Lord. We have an action point in today’s study that tells us spend some time worshiping God for his greatness, faithfulness and mercy every day. So please as we go out today, even as we go about our activities, remember to keep thanking God and praising him for all that he has done and for who that he is. Never cease to appreciate him for his greatness, for his faithfulness, and for his mercy towards us. Hallelujah.

Open Heavens 15 August 2025 Friday Hymn

Hymn 17: Praise My Soul The King of Heaven

1 Praise, my soul, the King of heaven;

to his feet your tribute bring.

Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,

evermore his praises sing.

Alleluia, alleluia!

Praise the everlasting King!

2 Praise him for his grace and favor

to his people in distress.

Praise him, still the same as ever,

slow to chide, and swift to bless.

Alleluia, alleluia!

Glorious in his faithfulness!

3 Fatherlike he tends and spares us;

well our feeble frame he knows.

In his hand he gently bears us,

rescues us from all our foes.

Alleluia, alleluia!

Widely yet his mercy flows!

4 Angels, help us to adore him;

you behold him face to face.

Sun and moon, bow down before him,

dwellers all in time and space.

Alleluia, alleluia!

Praise with us the God of grace!
