MEMORISE: Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name; Jeremiah 33:2
READ: Isaiah 42:5-8 Open Heavens 18 October 2025
5 Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:
6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

MESSAGE: – Open Heavens 18 October 2025 Saturday Daily Devotional
Who is a lord? A lord is someone you are required to submit to. A lord is someone you do not say ‘no’ to. When people go to court, they address the judge as ‘my lord.’ Nobody in their right senses will dare argue with a judge after a verdict has been given in a law court. The only thing people can do if they don’t like a verdict is to appeal to a higher court. However, to argue with a judge, whom they address as ‘my lord’ in court, is unthinkable.
When a fellow surrenders his or her life to Jesus Christ, He not only becomes the fellow’s saviour, He also becomes his or her Lord. As your Lord, Jesus is in control of your life. He determines what you do, where you go, and how you must behave. You don’t have the liberty to speak anyhow again because He is now your Lord.
For instance, you cannot spend your money the way you like because you are no longer your own. When you understand the Lordship of Jesus and submit to Him as your Lord, you will enjoy the countless benefits of having Him as your Lord. I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. Psalm 16:8-9
In the Scripture above, David knew God as his Lord and submitted to Him. He knew he was no longer in control of his life, so he was always setting the Lord before him. When you set the Lord before you in all you do, He will make sure nothing harms you; He will defend, protect, and preserve you. This Lord is the Lord of hosts, and He has all forces in heaven, on earth, and under the earth at His disposal. To submit to Him is to have everything He owns at your disposal.
The portion of Jacob is not like them; for he is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the LORD of hosts is his name. Jeremiah 51:19
Beloved, have you surrendered your life completely to Jesus Christ? Do you know Him as your Lord? Your success in life lies in knowing and submitting to God as Lord of all in your life.
REFLECTION – Open Heavens 18 October 2025
Is Jesus Christ the Lord of your life?
Open Heavens 18 October 2025 Saturday Commentary
Praise the Lord. Our topic for today once more is the Lord. Many times when we talk about coming to Christ and surrendering to him, all that some people think is that he can give them salvation. He is their savior. But we learn from today’s study that it is beyond that. We learn that Jesus Christ is not only our savior, he is also our lord. So we must go beyond being one of those believers who are quick to embrace Jesus as their savior. the one who forgives their sins, the one who heals their diseases and blesses them. We must embrace him all together as our Lord also. The one who rules over our will, over our choices, and over our lives. To call Jesus Lord is to acknowledge his total authority over us. It is to say that my life no longer belongs to me anymore. It belongs to Christ. Let us take a look at what it truly means to have Jesus as Lord.
Today’s study reveals to us that to call someone Lord means to accept their authority without resistance. A Lord is one to whom we owe allegiance and obedience to. In a law court, for example, that our father and the Lord talked about today, people address the judge as my lord. and he makes us understand that no one dares to argue with the final verdict of the judge. Similarly, when we surrender our lives to Christ, we accept his rulership over every aspect of our lives. We accept his rulership over our time, over our money, even over our thoughts and our decisions. In today’s study, we are made to understand that as our Lord, Jesus is in control of our life. He determines what we do. So we no longer do things of our own accord. He determines where we go. So when he says go, we go. When he says wait, we wait. We follow his instructions. We also learned that he determines how we must behave. He determines how we will react to things. He even determines the things that we say and the things that we do not say. So with Jesus as our Lord, we are no longer led by our emotions.
We no longer do things simply because of the way we feel. And the big problem that we see today is that many believers want Jesus to save them from sin. They want him to be their savior, but they do not want him to rule over their lives. They do not want him as Lord. They want to pick one and leave the other. They want his blessings, but they resist his instructions. But it never works that way. Both of them have to go hand in hand. Today’s study also reveals to us that there’s blessing in submitting to the lordship of our Lord Jesus Christ. When Jesus becomes your Lord, your life comes under divine order and protection. We learned from today’s study that David said, “I have set the Lord always before me because he’s at my right hand. I shall not be moved.” Psalm 16:8. This means that David did nothing without first acknowledging God’s authority. The result was divine stability, which is why he said, “I shall not be moved.” When Jesus is your Lord, you enjoy divine direction. He leads you beside still waters. You enjoy divine preservation. No harm can prevail against you because you are under his command. You experience divine peace because he governs your heart and your mind. You are always at rest. Hallelujah.
It is also important for us to note that there is a cost for refusing the lordship of our Lord Jesus Christ. When a man refuses to submit to the lordship of Christ, he becomes the lord of his own life and that is a dangerous position to be in. Proverbs 16:2 warns us that there is a way that seemth right unto a man, but it says that the end thereof are the ways of debt. King Saul is a very good example. God commanded him to destroy the Amalachites completely. But Saul choose partial obedience. When Samuel confronted him, he argued that he had saved the best for sacrifice. This rebellion cost him his throne. We can say that Saul wanted to serve God on his own terms. He wanted a savior, not a lord. And we see the result.
So beloved, always remember that partial obedience is still disobedience. When you argue with divine instructions, you are resisting the lordship of Christ. Every area of your life that is not under his control becomes a potential doorway for the enemy to enter in. I would like to also add at this point that to live under the lordship of Christ, you must daily surrender your will to his. It is not a one-time or one-off act. It is a continuous process. Also know that submitting to Christ’s lordship may sometimes come with a cost. It may sometimes mean letting go of your preferences. It may mean letting go of your ambitions or even certain habits that you enjoy. It may mean choosing forgiveness over revenge or choosing patience over haste. Sometimes some people may even consider you to be very slow. They think, “Oh, why do you have to always pray over it?” They forget that it is because you must get a divine instruction. But never forget that each act of obedience brings you into a closer and even more intimate relationship with God.
So beloved, knowing Jesus Christ as your savior is the beginning of your Christian journey. But knowing him as Lord is the foundation of your spiritual maturity. The measure of your submission determines the measure of your growth. It may not always be convenient, but it is the best way to go. I would like us at this point to bow our heads and appreciate the Lord. Say, “Father, thank you for revealing to me the power of your lordship. Thank you for revealing to me what it truly means to make you my Lord.” Tell the Lord today, say, “Father, I submit my will completely to you today in Jesus’ name. From today moving forward, let my will totally come under yours. Let me want what you want for me in the name of Jesus. Also ask the Lord today say Lord Jesus take full control of my life. Rule in every area of my life, my thoughts, my decisions and even my desires in the name of Jesus. Ask the Lord to say, “Father, take control of every area of my life. Let nothing be left out. Take control of my thoughts, the things I think about. Take control of my plans and my decisions. Take control of my desires. take control of the things I want. Rule over them in the name of Jesus.
Also ask the Lord today say, “Father, wherever I have resisted your lordship, please forgive me and help me to yield completely to you today in the name of Jesus.” Maybe there are certain areas of our lives that we have kept away from him in time past. We have said you can rule over every other part, but leave this out. Declare unto the Lord today, say, “Father, I let go of everything today. Take control in the name of Jesus. I yield completely to your lordship in the name of Jesus. Also ask the Lord today. Say, Lord, please grant me the grace to obey you even when it is difficult. Let your will prevail in my life in Jesus’ name. Ask the Lord today for the grace not to only be a Christian of convenience. Not to accept his lordship only when it seems easy. Ask him for the grace to let go of all things at all times. letting his will prevail over our lives irrespective of how it feels in the name of Jesus.
Let grace be multiplied onto us in the name of Jesus. Also ask the Lord today say father as I walk in total submission let my life reflect your glory and bring others under your lordship too in the name of Jesus. Ask the Lord that our lives would be a good advertisement that men would see the benefit of total submission to the Lord and they too would submit to him in the name of Jesus. Begin to bless the name of the Lord and thank him for answers to prayers. Worship him and give him thanks. Father, we are grateful for hearing and answering us. In Jesus’ name we have prayed. Amen.
Open Heavens 18 October 2025 Saturday Hymn
HYMN 7: I AM THINE O LORD.
1 I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith,
And be closer drawn to Thee.
Refrain:
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
2 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine. [Refrain]
3 Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,
I commune as friend with friend! [Refrain]
4 There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee. [Refrain]
