MEMORISE: And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. 2 Kings 4:6

READ: 2 Kings 4:1-6 Open Heavens 19 August 2025

1 Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the Lord: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.

2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.

3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.

4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.

5 So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.

6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.

MESSAGE: – Open Heavens 19 August 2025 Tuesday Daily Devotional

Today, I will continue my discussion about being filled with the anointing in various levels and degrees. The fact that a believer’s spiritual battery is very full today does not mean that it cannot still be fuller. There is actually no limit to how full your spiritual battery can be. 1 Corinthians 12:31 says that you should covet earnestly the best gifts. You must be very covetous when it comes to being filled with the anointing.

When you read 2 Kings 1:9-12, where Elijah called down fire to burn two sets of soldiers when they came to arrest him, you will know that he was full of the anointing. However, by the time you get to 2 Kings 2:9-15, Elisha told Elijah, “I want more than you have, sir.” Elijah was so full of the anointing that he could call down fire from heaven any time he wanted and shut the heavens so it would not rain for more than three years, yet Elisha wanted a double portion of that same spirit – and he got it! You also can receive more of the anointing than your spiritual leaders.

Beloved, you can be filled with the anointing to higher and higher degrees. Colossians 2:9 tells us that the fullness of the Godhead dwelt in Jesus. Jesus was really full of the Holy Spirit, yet He constantly separated Himself to get more of the anointing (Matthew 14:23).

Anytime He performed a special miracle, He would quickly separate Himself to get more. The One who carried the fullness of the Godhead bodily constantly went apart to get more and more. One of the major reasons many ministers of God rise and fall is that as soon as they get to a certain height, they stop getting filled. They stop studying their  Bibles like before and reduce their prayer times because they now have busy schedules. Every athlete knows that he or she must work hard to become a champion. However, to remain a champion, he or she must work even harder. This is the secret to continuous growth in God.

As long as you remain thirsty for more, God will pour more into you. When Elisha told the woman in today’s Bible reading to borrow vessels, the oil kept pouring as long as there were empty vessels remaining. The more you yield to God, the more He will pour His anointing into you and make you a wonder to the world.

Open Heavens 19 August 2025 Tuesday Commentary

Hallelujah.

Our topic for today once more says you can be filled with more part two. In the last series before this one, we learned the importance of recharging our spiritual batteries. We also saw ways through which we can recharge our spiritual batteries. Yesterday, we started this beautiful series where our father and the Lord explained to us that it is possible for a Christian to go deeper and deeper in God. We learned from our study yesterday that there’s always more in God for those who remain spiritually hungry.

Our father and the lord explained to us using an illustration that if a man can be filled with over 6,000 demons that shows us how much space is available within the human soul and how much of the anointing we can absorb. Today as we consider the second part of the topic you can be filled with more. Our father and the lord also explain to us that there is room for more. We learned that if we make our vessels empty and available for filling, the anointing will continue to flow. We learned from today’s study that it is possible to be mightily used by God yet still thirst for higher dimensions of him. We learned that it is possible for one generation to receive a mantle and for the next generation to walk in a double portion of that same anointing.

We saw this in the example of Elijah and Elisha. And when we study their lives, we find a beautiful picture of hunger for more. Elijah’s mantle fell upon Elijah, and you would recall that the first miracle that Elisha performed was to divide the Jordan just as Elijah had done. Elisha also went on to do many great signs and wonders. You would also recall that even his bones after he died still raised the dead. So, who is your spiritual leader?

Today’s study reveals to us that God can pour his anointing upon you even in greater measures than he has poured on them. If Elisha could look at Elijah’s fiery ministry and how much God had used him at that time and still say, “I want more.” then you too must never be content to camp at yesterday’s level of anointing. We learned from today’s study that even our Lord Jesus Christ often went up into a mountain alone to pray. The truth is that to remain fresh, you must continually return to the source. One other very important lesson which we learned from today’s study is the danger of complacency. We learned from today’s study that many people the moment they begin to see the little hand of God at work in their lives, they neglect their study life, they stop praying. They become too busy in quote and find all the excuses they can to support the decline in their spiritual lives. It is not wisdom to neglect a ladder that takes you up. If you got there by prayer and fasting and by the study of God’s word, it is not wisdom to neglect those things. And without doubt, this was the tragedy of Samson.

Once the spirit of God moved upon him mightily, he assumed the power would always be there. He played with sin and one day he said, “I will go out as before.” But the spirit had departed from him. May that never be our story in Jesus’ name. We are told in today’s study that it takes hard work to become a champion but even harder work to remain one. So, it is good that you are at the top, it is good that God is using you in one way or the other but never be contented because there is more where that came from. It is not enough to taste the anointing. You must keep pushing to ensure that the fire keeps burning. We also learned in today’s study about the principle of the vessels. Looking at the story of the widow which we see in our text for today, you would realize that as long as vessels were available, the oil kept pouring. So, we can learn that as long as you remain empty before God, he will keep filling you. The moment you think you are full enough, the oil stops. This also reveals to us that our hunger determines our feeling. Our thirst determines our capacity. How hungry are you for God? How empty are you of pride and sin? How empty are you of self-reliance? The more you empty yourself of all these things, the more room there would be for his spirit to get greater degrees of the anointing. We must ensure to keep thirsting. We must continue consistently in prayer and fasting. We must immerse ourselves in the word. We must yield to God in obedience.

I would like us at this point to bow our heads and appreciate the Lord would say, “Father, thank you for reminding me that there is always more in you. Say, Father, I am grateful. Thank you because you are inexhaustible. Thank you for reminding me that the more I want is the more I will get. Now, ask the Lord today. Say, Father, fill me more and more with your anointing every day in Jesus’ name.” Ask the Lord today. Say, “Father, please increase my hunger for you daily in the name of Jesus.” Tell the Lord today, say, “Father, never let me be satisfied with yesterday’s oil in Jesus’ name. Help me to always long for more. Let me desire new and fresh oil daily in the name of Jesus.” Tell the Lord today, say, “Father, please enlarge my spiritual capacity so that I can carry more of your anointing in the name of Jesus.

Say, “Father, help me to make more room for you in my life. Let me be emptied of all that is not you in the name of Jesus.” Tell the Lord today, say, “Father, please deliver me from complacency and spiritual laziness in the name of Jesus.” Say, “Lord, deliver me from whatever is able to keep me at one level for too long in the name of Jesus.” Ask the Lord today for the grace for discipline, in the place of prayer, in the place of the study of the word, in the place of fasting that would give ourselves continually to him in the name of Jesus. Say, “Holy Spirit, fill me. Fill me now till I overflow in the name of Jesus. Make me a channel of blessing to my generation. Let out of my belly flow rivers of living waters to the nations in the name of Jesus. Begin to bless the name of the Lord and thank him for answers to prayers. Just worship him and give him thanks. Lord, we are grateful. Blessed be your name. In Jesus’ name we have prayed. Amen.

Open Heavens 19 August 2025 Tuesday Hymn

HYMN 26: There Shall Be Showers Of Blessing

1 There shall be showers of blessing:

This is the promise of love;

There shall be seasons refreshing,

Sent from the Saviour above.

Refrain:

Showers of blessing,

Showers of blessing we need;

Mercy drops round us are falling,

But for the showers we plead.

2 There shall be showers of blessing,

Precious reviving again;

Over the hills and the valleys,

Sound of abundance of rain.

3 There shall be showers of blessing:

Send them upon us, O Lord!

Grant to us now a refreshing;

Come, and now honour Thy Word.

4 There shall be showers of blessing,

Oh, that to-day they might fall,

Now, as to God, we’re confessing.

Now as on Jesus we call!
