Open Heavens 19 March 2026 Thursday – God Hates Hypocrisy
MEMORISE: He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him. Job 13:16
READ: Acts 5:1-11 Open Heavens 19 March 2026
1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.
6 And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.
7 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.
8 And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.
9 Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.
10 Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.
11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Judges 17-19

MESSAGE: – Open Heavens 19 March 2026 Saturday Daily Devotional
In Mark 11:12-20, the Bible tells us about a fig tree that failed to produce fruit for Jesus to eat when He was hungry. Usually, when figs are in season, fig trees give a sign by producing many leaves, signaling that there are fruits on them. The fig tree in this passage, however, had leaves but no fruit – it was a show of hypocrisy. It is also a show of hypocrisy when a minister leads prayer or worship in church and puts up an impressive physical performance but hardly prays or worships in private. A preacher once said that some believers pretend to be very strong in the Lord when they have just failed Him.
In Job 8:13, the Bible says that the hope of hypocrites will perish. Today’s memory verse also tells us that God doesn’t want hypocrites in His presence- this is a serious warning to believers. Job 15:34 says that the congregation of hypocrites will be barren, and Job 20:5 says that the joy of a hypocrite will not last because it is for a moment. One of the passages in the Bible that challenged me as a young Christian is the story of Ananias and Sapphira, which is today’s Bible reading. The couple sold a piece of land, kept a part of the money, lied to Peter about it, and this cost them their lives. I thought their punishment was harsh; the land and the money were theirs, after all.
However, the issue was that Ananias and Sapphira attempted to deceive the church. God hates lies, and no liar will go to heaven (Revelation 21:8 ). As I studied the couple’s story, I discovered that God punished them because they were hypocrites.
Many believers fall into the trap of hypocrisy when they fail to give accurate reports of things that are entrusted into their care. Even some pastors are known to inflate their church’s attendance records, and when they are asked how the church is doing, they say, “Great”. 1 believe that a fellow is not doing great until the person doubles what the Lord has placed in his or her hand, as we see in the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30).
Beloved, when you pretend to be who you are not just because you want to look good in the eyes of the people around you, you are only deceiving yourself. Rather, seek God’s face to help you to become who He wants you to be.

Open Heavens 19 March 2026 Thursday Hymn
Hymn 31: Yield Not To Temptation
1 Yield not to temptation,
For yielding is sin;
Each vict’ry will help you,
Some other to win;
Fight valiantly onward,
Evil passions subdue;
Look ever to Jesus,
He will carry you through.
Refrain:
Ask the Savior to help you,
Comfort, strengthen and keep you;
He is willing to aid you,
He will carry you through.
2 Shun evil companions,
Bad language disdain;
God’s name hold in rev’rence,
Nor take it in vain;
Be thoughtful and earnest,
Kindhearted and true;
Look ever to Jesus,
He will carry you through.
3 To him that o’ercometh,
God giveth a crown;
Through faith we will conquer,
Though often cast down;
He who is our Savior,
Our strength will renew;
Look ever to Jesus,
He will carry you through.
Prayer Points for Open Heavens 19 March 2026 – GOD HATES HYPOCRISY
1. Father, I thank You for being a God of truth who desires truth in the inward parts. Thank You for Your word that exposes every form of hypocrisy and calls us to genuine living, in Jesus’ name.
2. Lord, I ask for mercy for every time I have pretended to be someone I am not, inflated the truth, or lived a double life—acting one way in public but differently in private, in Jesus’ name.
3. Father, search my heart and reveal every area of hypocrisy in my life. Where I have leaves without fruit, where I have outward show without inward reality, expose it and help me to repent, in Jesus’ name.
4. Lord, deliver me from the spirit of Ananias and Sapphira—the spirit of deception, lying to the Holy Spirit, and seeking the approval of men through falsehood. Let truth and integrity mark my life, in Jesus’ name.
5. Father, help me to be genuine in my worship. Let my private prayers and devotion match my public expressions of faith. Let me not be a minister who leads others but fails to meet with You personally, in Jesus’ name.
6. Lord, I reject every form of hypocrisy in reporting, whether in finances, church attendance, or personal achievements. Give me the grace to be honest and accurate in all my dealings, in Jesus’ name.
7. Father, let me not seek to look good in the eyes of people at the expense of truth. Help me to become who You want me to be, not just what others expect me to appear to be, in Jesus’ name.
8. Lord, I pray for every believer reading this. Let the fear of God, like that which came upon the early church, fall upon us and keep us from hypocrisy and deception, in Jesus’ name.
9. Father, according to Job 8:13, let not the hope of any hypocrite here be realized. Rather, turn our hearts to genuine repentance and sincere living before You, in Jesus’ name.
10. My personal prayer point: (Mention specific areas where you struggle with authenticity—public vs private life, giving, reporting, relationships—and ask God for genuine transformation).
11. Thank You, Father, for hearing my prayer. I receive the grace to walk in truth and sincerity all the days of my life, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
