1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

6 And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

7 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.

8 And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.

9 Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

10 Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.

11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 1-3

MESSAGE: – Open Heavens 22 March 2026 Sunday Daily Devotional

Today’s memory verse tells us that death and life are in the power of the tongue. Psalm 107:20 also tells us that God sent His word, and His word healed and delivered the Israelites from their destruction. Words can heal and deliver; however, as we see in today’s Bible reading, they can also kill and destroy. Ananias and Sapphira died instantly after hearing the words that Peter, God’s servant, spoke to them.

There is mighty power in the spoken word of God. God’s word is so powerful that the Bible says it is living and active (Hebrews 4:12). When this living word mixes with the living faith of a child of God, there is no limit to the miracles that can happen.

Several years ago, a man, who was seriously sick, came to the RCCG Headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos. He had hypertension and a host of other ailments. As the Sunday School session started, the teacher said, “Today, we are going to study the crossing of the Red Sea. We are going to see the power of the One who can cause the sea to freeze.

We are going to see the power of the One who can ask every storm to fall asleep.” On hearing that, the man knew immediately that God had sent the word for his healing to him specifically through the mouth of the Sunday School teacher. He thought to himself, “Ah, my day has come!”

He was so sure about it that he started crying for joy. Somehow, he knew that the Sunday School session was not just going to be about discussing the story of the Red Sea; he knew it was the set time for his healing. Before the Sunday School lesson ended, he was healed! His living faith mixed with the living word of God to produce his healing.

When you want to know a believer who has faith in God’s word, you will hear it in his or her words. When others keep confessing negatively because of the negative situations surrounding them, he or she will keep declaring and believing God’s word. When people say that there is a casting down because of unpleasant experiences, the fellow will boldly declare that there is a lifting up Job 22:29). Soon, the believer’s reality will start aligning with his or her confession.

Beloved, speak God’s word over the situations in your life with faith. Your words become powerful to heal and deliver when they are spoken in faith.

Prayer Points for Open Heavens 22 March 2026 – YOUR WORDS ARE POWERFUL

1. Father, I thank You for the power of Your word—living, active, and sharper than any two-edged sword. Thank You that when Your word mixes with faith, there is no limit to the miracles that can happen, in Jesus’ name.

2. Lord, I ask for mercy for every time I have spoken words of doubt, fear, negativity, or death over my life and circumstances, instead of speaking faith-filled words aligned with Your promises, in Jesus’ name.

3. Father, fill my mouth with Your word. Let my tongue speak life, healing, deliverance, and victory over every situation in my life, in Jesus’ name.

4. Lord, help me to be like the sick man who recognized Your word through the Sunday School teacher. Give me ears to hear when You speak, and faith to receive Your word as the answer to my situation, in Jesus’ name.

5. Father, let Your living word mix with my living faith to produce supernatural results in my life. Let my confession align with Your promises, and let my reality catch up with my declaration, in Jesus’ name.

6. Lord, when others confess negativity because of negative circumstances, help me to boldly declare Your word. When they say there is a casting down, let me declare that there is a lifting up, in Jesus’ name.

7. Father, let my words be powerful for healing, deliverance, and transformation. Use my mouth to speak life into dead situations, hope into despair, and victory into battles, in Jesus’ name.

8. Lord, deliver me from the spirit of Ananias and Sapphira—the spirit of deception and falsehood. Let my words be truthful, aligned with Your will, and filled with the power of Your Spirit, in Jesus’ name.

9. Father, for everyone reading this, let their words become instruments of life and blessing. Let their testimonies of faith-filled words producing miracles abound, in Jesus’ name.

10. My personal prayer point: (Mention specific situations in your life—health, finances, family, career—where you need to speak faith-filled words and see God’s word produce results).

11. Thank You, Father, for the power of words. I speak life over my situation, and I believe that Your word will accomplish what it is sent to do, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
