Open Heavens 23 August 2025 Saturday – A Very Big God

MEMORISE: Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite. Psalms 147:5

READ: Isaiah 40:18-28 Open Heavens 23 August 2025

18 To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?

19 The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.

20 He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.

21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?

22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

23 That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.

24 Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.

25 To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.

26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.

27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God?

28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

Bible In One Year: Lamentations 3-5

Open Heavens 23 August 2025

MESSAGE: – Open Heavens 23 August 2025 Saturday Daily Devotional

In Isaiah 66:1, God said, “The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool…” Also, Deuteronomy 33:27 says that He has everlasting arms. Our God is a very big God, yet He can make Himself so small that He can dwell in your heart. 1 John 4:4 says that greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. God is so big that He can solve any problem just by speaking a word. When He speaks a word to you, your life will never be the same again. No person, problem, or situation is as big as the Most High God.

In 1987, one of our pastors had an extraordinary experience. He was a soap maker, and one Saturday, because he wasn’t going to be working on Sunday, he decided to make preparations towards work on Monday while everyone else at his workplace had gone home. As he was mixing some chemicals, he fell, and a bowl of acid fell on his face. He cried out in great pain as the acid burned his face and eyes, but nobody was around to help him.

Finally, somebody who was passing by the factory saw the door open, went in, and saw him on the ground, groaning in pain. He was rushed to the hospital, and after the doctors attended to him and treated his face, they told him that he had lost his eyes and would never see again. He said, “Oh, that’s the doctors’ report. Take me to the Redemption Camp. Let me go and hear Jesus’ report.” When they brought him to me, my faith was honestly shaken just by looking at him. However, we serve a very big God who is not moved by the things that move men; with Him, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). I began to pray, “Father, there is nothing You cannot do. Heal the eyes of your child. Give him brand new eyes.” Today, the man the doctors said would never see again not only sees but also reads the Bible without eyeglasses!

Beloved, no matter how terrible some of the circumstances in your life might be, don’t despair. Present them to our very big God because He is more than able to handle them. I pray that God will show Himself big in your life and turn any negative situation that may exist in your life around for good, in Jesus’ name.

Key Point – Open Heavens 23 August 2025

Our God is bigger than any person, problem, or situation.

Open Heavens 23 August 2025 Saturday Commentary

Hallelujah.

Our topic for today once more is a very big God. Today’s study reveals to us that we serve a very big God. He is bigger than human imagination can grasp. Scripture tells us about him in Isaiah chapter 66:1, which we see in today’s devotional, that thus saith the Lord, the heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Imagine how great such a God is. The one who can sit in heaven and his foot would be touching the earth. This reveals how mighty our God is. There is no problem that is bigger than our God. No power of darkness can withstand him. No situation in your life is too complicated for him to turn around. Today I want us to consider who this great God is, what he can do for us and how we can experience his greatness in our lives. We have said earlier that our God is great. He is mighty. However, it is one thing for God to be great and another thing for him to be near.

The fact that our God sits upon the heavens and still chooses to dwell in our hearts through the Holy Spirit is enough reason for every believer to live above fear and defeat. This is enough reason for every believer to have the overcomer mindset that we have a God that is bigger than our challenges. Hallelujah. There is no one who partners with God and fails. When you have God with you, then you are more than a conqueror. No one loses with God. One with God is always a majority. David understood this and that was why he wrote in Psalm 23:4 that though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me. So, the reason why he would fear no evil is because of the presence of the Lord with him. David knew that our God never leaves his own to be stranded. He knows that when God is with you, his greatness becomes your defence. It becomes your advantage. When God is with you, his power becomes your own strength. When he is with you, his presence becomes your guarantee of victory. You are so sure and confident. You know without any element of doubt that you are going to come out victorious.

There are some situations that may have lasted 10, 15, 20, 30 years. There are some situations that may seem so big, so complicated that you’d be asking yourself if it is possible to surely overcome them. However, we are made to understand today that no matter how big a problem is, our God is still bigger than that problem. Be it sickness or some medical doctor’s report or opposition. Maybe it is even family challenges. All of these are nothing before the creator of the heaven and earth. The one who spoke with His words everything we see today into existence. Come to think of the testimony shared in today’s devotional. The testimony of the pastor who suffered a tragic accident when acid poured on his face and his eyes. The doctors gave their verdict. They told him, “You will never see again.” Humanly speaking, the matter was closed. But he refused to accept that report and he said instead, “Take me to the redemption camp. Let me hear Jesus’s report.” That is faith. All that that pastor was interested in was in the report of the Lord, the report of the great God who alone has the final say. Men saw blindness in his case, but God saw new eyes. Men saw impossibility, but God saw opportunity for a great miracle and to the glory of God, the man who was once declared blind, can now see perfectly. We were even told that he reads the Bible without glasses. That is the God that we serve. And I’m praying for you as I pray for myself today that if there be any case in our lives that probably we have even written off by ourselves because those situations seem so complicated today in the name of Jesus, they receive speedy divine intervention in Jesus’ name. Before we go I would also like to add that as mighty as our God is he also wants to work wonders through us. He wants to showcase his greatness through us.

The greatness of our God is not something abstract. His greatness is not just a fairy tale. It is practical. It is visible. It is tangible. During the life and ministry of our Lord Jesus, the lame walked, the blind saw, the lepers were cleansed, and even the dead rose again. Today, we have the beautiful promise in John 14:12 that we too will do greater works if we believe. This means the same greatness of God is available to every believer who will walk by faith and remain yielded to him. God can also use you for great signs and wonders. People can see the mighty hand and the power of God at work through you if you would yield yourself to him. It is my prayer today that we would become vessels, instruments that God would use to manifest his great power to the ends of the earth in the name of Jesus. So how can we experience the greatness of our God? We can experience his greatness through faith in his word. What has God said? What is his own verdict? We hold on to what God has said in his word by faith. We can experience his greatness.

We can also experience his greatness through prayer. When we pray, what happens is that we invite God’s greatness into our situations. We come to the end of ourselves, and we say, “Lord, take over.” And we know for sure that whatever is put in God’s hands never fail. Hallelujah. We can experience his greatness when we walk with him in obedience. God’s greatness flows in the lives of those who walk in obedience. When you align with his will, his power backs you up. We can also experience his greatness when we give ourselves to worshiping him. Never forget that worship magnifies God in our eyes and shrinks our problems. Worship redirects our gaze from the size of our problems to the greatness of our God. So beloved, what is that mountain standing before you today? Is it sickness? Is it lack? Is it fear? Or a longstanding issue that seems immovable? Do not be afraid. Our God is greater than that mountain. No matter how dark the night may seem right now, he is the light that would shine through that situation that cannot be quenched. No matter the storm right now, he is the master who speaks peace to every storm and calms it.

So, learn to rest in him. Trust him with that matter that is troubling you. Lay it at his feet. Present it to him in prayer and watch him reveal his greatness in your life. I’d like us at this point to bow our heads and first would be thanking the Lord for being the almighty, the great and mighty God, the greater than the greatest. Say, “Father, we worship you. There is none like you. You’re the king above all kings. Kabi, there is none like you. We adore you. Blessed be your name in Jesus’ name.” Now ask the Lord today. Say, Lord, reveal your greatness in my life, in my family, in all that concerns me. In Jesus’ name, let your greatness be seen. Let Your might be seen, let your power be revealed in the name of Jesus. Ask the Lord today, say, “Father, every problem confronting me that looks impossible, Father, I lay them at your feet, showcase your power and Your might through them in the name of Jesus. take over them and fight our battles for us in the name of Jesus. Also ask the Lord today say father please increase my faith to always trust you above every human report in the name of Jesus.

Ask the Lord today say father help me that it is what you say alone that will matter to me in the name of Jesus. Let your report be the final in my life. Let your verdict alone be what stands in my life in the name of Jesus. Now ask the Lord today. Say, “Father, use me as a vessel to demonstrate your greatness to my generation in the name of Jesus.” Say, “Father, let me be an instrument. Use my hands, Lord. Use my legs, use my speech, use my intellect, use my mind, use me, Lord, as your vessel to demonstrate your greatness to everyone around me in the name of Jesus.” Begin to bless the name of the Lord and thank him for we know that he has heard and answered us. Just give him thanks. Father, we adore you. Receive our thanks. blessed redeemer in Jesus’ name we have prayed. Amen.

Open Heavens 23 August 2025 Saturday Hymn

Hymn 18: Praise To The Lord The Almighty

1 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!

O my soul, praise him, for he is your health and salvation!

Come, all who hear; now to his temple draw near,

join me in glad adoration.

2 Praise to the Lord, above all things so wondrously reigning;

sheltering you under his wings, and so gently sustaining!

Have you not seen all that is needful has been

sent by his gracious ordaining?

3 Praise to the Lord, who will prosper your work and defend you;

surely his goodness and mercy shall daily attend you.

Ponder anew what the Almighty can do,

if with his love he befriends you.

4 Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him!

All that has life and breath, come now with praises before him.

Let the Amen sound from his people again;

gladly forever adore him.
