MEMORISE: O LORD, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faith fulness and truth. Isaiah 25:1

READ: John 11:38-45 Open Heavens 25 August 2025

38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.

39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.

40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

45 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.

Bible In One Year: Ezekiel 5-8

MESSAGE: – Open Heavens 25 August 2025 Monday Daily Devotional

Wonderful means ‘full of wonders. God is such a wonder that the Bible calls Him Wonderful (Isaiah 9:6). Years ago, I was travelling from Ibadan to Ilorin within Western Nigeria, and there was this narrow bridge along the way that couldn’t contain two vehicles driving side by side at the same time. There was a sign which read, ‘Narrow Bridge Ahead,’ so that when drivers approached the bridge and saw another vehicle on the bridge coming in the opposite direction, they could wait for the vehicle to pass through. On this day, my driver and I were already on the bridge, and a trailer was coming from the other side at great speed.

The driver was supposed to stop for us to pass to the other side, but for unknown reasons, he didn’t. We were headed for a collision, and there was no time to pray; we could only shout, “Jesus!” We met in the middle of the bridge, and somehow, the vehicles passed by each other. When we got to the other side, my driver was shaking like a jellyfish as he parked the car. If he had looked behind him, he would have noticed I was shaking even more than he was. When he regained his composure, I had also regained mine a bit. He turned to me and asked, “Daddy, what happened?” | replied, “God enlarged the bridge.” Throughout the rest of our journey, he kept saying, “Wonderful!” and I told him, “That’s His name.”

Everything about God is wonderful. His works are wonderful (Psalm 107:8) – He created the heavens and the earth in just six days! Psalm 40:5 also tells us that many are His wonderful works, and they cannot be numbered. His testimonies are also wonderful (Psalm 119:129) – He parted the Red Sea (Exodus 14:21-22) and caused the formidable walls of Jericho to crumble on their own (Joshua 6:20). His knowledge is wonderful (Psalm 139:6). His counsel is also wonderful (Isaiah 28:29) – you can never find a greater or better adviser than the Almighty God. Even when His counsel appears foolish to the human mind, it is infinitely wiser than the wisdom of men (1 Corinthians 1:25).

My wonderful God does great wonders. I pray for you today; you will experience His wonders before this year ends. When Lazarus came back to life after four days in the grave, it was a wonder. My wonderful God will visit every dead matter in your life and cause you to experience great wonders, in Jesus’ name.

Father, please stretch Your wonderful hands towards me and cause me to experience great wonders, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heavens 25 August 2025 Monday Commentary

Hallelujah.

Our topic for today once more says wonderful part one. I want to believe that many of us if we would cast our minds back, we will remember many instances where God came through for us and were short of words. many instances in our lives when all that we could say is wow, God is wonderful. Today’s study reveals to us that the name wonderful is not just a description of what God does. It is a revelation of who he is. Our God is not only called wonderful, but he is also full of wonders. Everything about him speaks of wonder. And we know what wonder means. When we think of wonder, we think of something that is extraordinary. We think of things that are beyond comprehension and things that defy human explanations and that is exactly whom our God is.

Our God is the one whom you can be sure would always show up for you even in impossible moments. In the story which our father and the lord shared with us in today’s study about how God expanded the narrow bridge. Tell me now how can we explain what happened there? Humanly speaking we know that a bridge that is made of concrete and reinforcements cannot expand that much to accommodate such vehicles. But that is why our god is wonderful. If it was possible to explain what happened there, then there may be not much excitement about it. But this is beyond our own understanding. Only the God who is full of wonders. The one who does wonders without numbers can do such a thing. He specializes in things termed to be impossible. Otherwise, how would you explain that Lazarus, who had been dead for 4 days, was easily brought back to life without much drama. He made sure that Lazarus was dead, and everyone knew that he was dead without doubt. When he came, he called the one who was dead to come forth. It is normal to think that only those who are alive can hear. However, when God speaks, when the one who does wonders speaks, even the dead would hear. And that was what happened. Lazarus came forth. Hallelujah.

I don’t know what it is that may be said to be dead in your life. You may have given up on that situation because it feels as though nothing else can be done about it today. The one who is called wonderful, our God who speaks and even the dead things can hear and come back to life will restore every of such situations and bring them back to life in the name of Jesus. We are told in today’s study that his works are wonderful. His testimonies are wonderful. His knowledge is also wonderful. There is no doubt that our God knows all things. His knowledge is beyond searching out. He knows your past. He knows your present. He even knows your future. He knows your secret battles. He knows even your unspoken fears. Those things silently threatening you which you cannot even publicly speak about.

The wonderful knowledge of our God means that he knows who you are. He knows what you need, and he knows how to bring you out of every of such situations and he would surely bring you out. You would laugh. The overcomers laugh in the name of Jesus. We’re also told in today’s study that our God is the God of wonderful counsels. He’s the wonderful counsellor. His counsels are wonderful. When you run to him for wisdom, when you run to him for insights, when you run to him for direction, he never disappoints. Without doubt, the one who knows all things and sees all things is the one in the best position to give you the best counsel. No wonder everyone who depends on him is never put to shame.

Our father in the Lord says to us in today’s study that even when his counsel appears foolish to the human mind, he has proven to us over and again that there are no disappointments with him.

Today’s word is a word of reassurance to that person who is almost giving up. God’s word to you today is hold on. I am the God of wonders. There is absolutely nothing too hard for me to do with me. Impossibility is nothing. I would like us at this point to bow our heads and we’ll be telling the Lord today would say, “Father, please stretch your wonderful hands towards me and cause me to experience great wonders in Jesus’ name.” Ask the Lord today. Say, “Father, let your hands of wonders be stretched towards me. Let me see your hand at work in my life doing great wonders to your glory in the name of Jesus. Also ask the Lord today say Lord please open my eyes to recognize and celebrate your daily wonders in my life in the name of Jesus as your wonders continue to abound in my life. Cause me Lord to be thankful for them. Help me oh Lord to recognize them and be grateful in the name of Jesus. Also ask the Lord today say father in the name of Jesus let there be divine intervention for me today in every impossible and hopeless situation in my life in Jesus’s name.

Ask the Lord today say father you who is the one who does wonders without numbers come and do wonders without numbers in my life in the name of Jesus. Tell the Lord today say father before this year ends let me, and my family testify of your great wonders in Jesus’ name. Why not ask the Lord today for something specifically that you want him to do? It may sound difficult and impossible to the human mind but tell the Lord today. Say, “Father, before this year ends, let me and my family testify about this thing of your great wonders in the name of Jesus.” Begin to bless the name of the Lord and thank him for answers to prayers. Just give him thanks, worship him, adore him, give thanks to the one who is great and worthy to be praised. receive all glory, thanks and adoration in Jesus’s name we have prayed. Amen.

Open Heavens 25 August 2025 Monday Hymn

Hymn 27: What A Friend We Have in Jesus

1 What a friend we have in Jesus,

all our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carry

everything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit,

O what needless pain we bear,

all because we do not carry

everything to God in prayer!

2 Have we trials and temptations?

Is there trouble anywhere?

We should never be discouraged;

take it to the Lord in prayer!

Can we find a friend so faithful

who will all our sorrows share?

Jesus knows our every weakness;

take it to the Lord in prayer!

3 Are we weak and heavy laden,

cumbered with a load of care?

Precious Savior, still our refuge–

take it to the Lord in prayer!

Do your friends despise, forsake you?

Take it to the Lord in prayer!

In his arms he’ll take and shield you;

you will find a solace there.
