6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
11 And I say unto you, that many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the self-same hour.

God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34); whatever He has done for somebody else before, He can do for you also. For example, in 1 Kings 17:8-16, there was a widow who had only one meal left. God paid her a visit, and that final meal lasted another three years.
In 2 Kings 4:1-7, there was another widow who had only one pot of oil. The Lord moved in her situation, and the oil kept multiplying until there was enough to sell to pay all her debts and live on for her lifetime. If you’ve seen God do something you desire for somebody, take that as an assurance that He can do the same for you. When you come across an account of a kind of miracle that you desire in the Scriptures, rejoice because your own miracle is on its way.
As long as they’re His children, God isn’t partial to anyone or any type of people; all that matters to Him is that you believe, because all things are possible to those who believe (Mark 9:23). God is a God of principles, and anyone who follows His principles and has faith in Him will experience His goodness and power.
Jesus couldn’t do many mighty works in His hometown because of the people’s unbelief (Matthew 13:58). Even though they were His townspeople, as long as they didn’t have faith, they couldn’t receive miracles. Unbelief closed the doors of miracles to them, and Jesus, who had the Holy Spirit without measure (John 3:34), could only heal a few sick people (Mark 6:5). No matter how close you think you are to God, if you harbour unbelief, you may limit what He can do in your life and through you.
When someone has faith, regardless of the fellow’s nationality, ability, or status, he or she will experience great miracles. When Jesus was on earth, while some Jews were dying in their sicknesses because of their unbelief, some Gentiles were receiving jaw-dropping miracles. The Centurion in today’s Bible reading is an example of a Gentile whose faith attracted miracles. He understood that distance isn’t a barrier when faith is present, and Jesus was amazed at his great faith.
Beloved, if you have faith in God concerning a miracle you’ve seen or read about, God is able to replicate the same in your life. It doesn’t matter how terrible your situation is or the obstacles that surround you; if you believe, you will see God’s glory at work (John 11:40).

Open Heavens 27 August 2025 Wednesday Commentary
Hallelujah.
We see from today’s study that God is a God of principles. He operates according to spiritual laws. And one of the greatest of these is the law of faith. Scripture makes us understand that without faith, it is impossible to please him. It says, “For he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” In Matthew 13:58, we are told that Jesus could not do mighty works in his hometown because of their unbelief. This is very deep. The son of God himself could not do so much. He was limited not because his power had diminished but because the people refused to believe.
Beloved, unbelief is a thief. It robs us of miracles that are rightfully ours. It closes doors that God has opened already. It makes divine possibilities appear as impossibilities. The people in Jesus’s hometown were so familiar with him that they could not receive from him. They probably were asking themselves, “Is not this the carpenter’s son? When was he born? He was born right in front of us. And now, who is he claiming to be?” Their unbelief blinded them to the reality of his power. We learn here that closeness to God without faith still produces no result. You may be in church maybe as a pastor’s child or a church worker or even a minister yourself. If you harbor unbelief, you can limit what God wants to do in your life. We also mentioned earlier that God does not discriminate against us based on nationality or background or maybe skin color.
In God’s kingdom, faith is the great equalizer. It brings every one of God’s children to the same point where all things are possible if we believe. To the rich, the poor, the Jew, and the Gentile, the learned and the unlearned, all can receive from God if they will only believe. Today’s study makes it very clear to us that one of the keys to building faith is to see testimonies as prophecies. This is because whatever God has done before, he is able and willing to do again. When you read of the widow’s oil that never ran dry, rejoice because your own provision is on the way. When you read about the Red Sea parting for the children of Israel, rejoice because your own Red Sea will part. When you hear of the blind receiving sight, rejoice. That is good news because your own situation will receive divine intervention too. This has been a personal principle for me too and God has always been faithful.
Beloved, testimonies are not meant to make us envious. They are meant to build our faith. Every time you encounter a testimony, whether in scripture or in the life of someone around you, see it as God’s way of telling you, I can do the same for you, my son, if only you will believe. So, to experience the wonders of God, it is important that we always believe without doubting. Take God at his word, no matter how impossible it seems. Also remember to obey divine instructions without complaints. Obedience to God opens the door for miracles. Ensure to guard your heart with all diligence. Reject unbelief. Make no room for familiarity in your heart. Also ensure to always celebrate other testimonies. Rejoice with them when God blesses them. It is a proof that your turn is near. Someone said that if God is doing it for your neighbour, it means that he’s in the neighbourhood. And before long, it would be your turn, too. Hallelujah. Also learn to confess the word of God. The centurion that we see in today’s study believed that just one word from Jesus was enough. He told him to speak the word, and our Lord Jesus spoke and that situation was settled. So, speak God’s word over your situations and you’d see him confirm those words.
Hallelujah. Before we go, remember that God does not bless one and ignore another out of favoritism. His miracles are not reserved for a select few, not for pastors or ministers or certain workers. They are available to all who believe. He has done it for others before and he would do it for you too in Jesus’ name. I would like us at this point to bow our heads and would be thanking the Lord today would say, “Father, thank you because you are no respector of persons. What you have done before you can do again.” Appreciate the Lord. Give him thanks. Say, “Father, we are grateful.” Now, ask the Lord today. Say, “Lord, please increase my faith.
Help my unbelief in Jesus’ name.” Ask the Lord today. Say, “Father, if there may be any way that I may be demonstrating unbelief, have mercy upon me today, increase my faith in the name of Jesus.” Also ask the Lord today. Say father let every testimony I read or hear become a prophecy of what you are set to do in my life in the name of Jesus. Let every testimony I hear begin to replicate itself. Every beautiful testimony which I desire Lord let it begin to manifest themselves also in my life in the name of Jesus. Also ask the Lord today say Lord please silence every voice of doubt and unbelief in my heart. Every whisper from the side of the enemy telling me that it is impossible. Say Lord in the name of Jesus. Today let there be silenced. Let me only hear your voice reassuring me of your possibilities in the name of Jesus. Ask the Lord today also say father demonstrate your faithfulness to me. that which you did for the widow, that which you did for the sancturion, Lord, do unto me also in the name of Jesus. Say, Lord, turn every hopeless situation into a testimony in my life in the name of Jesus. Let every hopeless situation be turned around into a situation that brings thanksgiving and praise unto your name. Begin to bless the name of the Lord and give him thanks. Worship him, honor him, adore his holy name. Blessed be thy name, O Lord, in Jesus’ name we have prayed. Amen.
