Open Heavens 3 October 2025 Friday – Two Kinds Of Wonders

MEMORISE: “To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever.” – Psalm 136:4

READ: Exodus 12:21-30 Open Heavens 3 October 2025

21 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover.

22 And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.

23 For the Lord will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the Lord will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.

24 And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.

25 And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the Lord will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service.

26 And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service?

27 That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the Lord’s passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.

28 And the children of Israel went away, and did as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.

29 And it came to pass, that at midnight the Lord smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.

30 And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Matthew 5-6

MESSAGE: – Open Heavens 3 October 2025 Friday Daily Devotional

There are two kinds of wonders – the good and the bad. In 2 Kings 5:1-27, there was a man called Naaman, who was the captain of the host of the king of Syria. He was a leper, and Elisha asked him to go and wash in River Jordan so he could be healed. When he did, his skin became like that of a newborn baby – this is an example of a good wonder. After this, Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, ran after Naaman and fraudulently collected the gifts Elisha rejected. When Elisha discovered this, he cursed Gehazi saying, “! command that the leprosy of Naaman will cleave to you.” Immediately, Gehazi was covered with leprosy and became as white as snow – now, this is an example of a bad wonder.

When God manifests Himself, He performs good wonders in the lives of His children. He is gentle to His children, but He is also a consuming fire to those who refuse His Lordship. In today’s Bible reading, the children of Israel enjoyed the good wonder of preservation and escape from the angel of death. However, at the same time, the Egyptians experienced God’s judgement. At the Red Sea, while the Israelites saw the mighty wonder of God as the sea parted for them to walk through it, the Egyptians were drowned by that same sea (Exodus 14:21-28). God is a God of wonders, but the type of wonders a fellow will experience from Him will depend on whether he or she is for Him or against Him.

Beloved, are you on the Lord’s side (Exodus 32:26) or in the devil’s camp? It is not only unbelievers who are not on the Lord’s side; carnal Christians are also not on His side. Paul said in Romans 8:7 that the carnal mind is enmity against God because it is not subject to God’s law and can never be. A carnal Christian wants to do things his or her way but not in God’s way. Such Christians are moved by what they see and not by God’s word. Anyone who lives like them will not enjoy God’s good wonder.

If you are not yet born again and you want God to make your life an example of a good wonder to others, come to His side today and surrender all to Jesus. If you are already God’s child, refuse to be a carnal Christian and totally surrender your mind to be constantly renewed by His word.

REFLECTION – Open Heavens 3 October 2025

Check your life; are you preparing to experience God’s good or bad wonder?

Open Heavens 3 October 2025 Friday Commentary

Hallelujah.

Our topic for today once more is two kinds of wonders. The psalmist in Psalm 77:14 says, “Thou art the God that doeth wonders. Thou hast declared thy strength among the people. Without doubt, our God is a God full of wonders.” And today we learn that his wonders can either lift a man up or bring him down. His wonders can save, it can deliver, and even heal. But the same wonders we learned from today’s study can also bring judgment on those who resist him. We learned from today’s study that there are two broad sides to his wonders. The good and the bad. And which one you experience depends on whether you are standing on the Lord’s side or not.

As children of God, we know that he loves us. And we learned from today’s study that when he reveals his power to us, we enjoy marvelous testimonies. Anna is an example of someone who enjoyed God’s good wonders. In 1 Samuel chapter 1, she was barren for years. Scripture makes us understand that she was even mocked and ridiculed. But when she prayed earnestly to the Lord, he remembered her and gave to her Samuel. That was a good wonder, a turnaround that caused her lips to sing praises. You also remember the story of Peter in prison in Acts 12. Scripture makes us understand that he was bound in chains. He was guarded by soldiers. In fact, his situation looked hopeless. But in the middle of the night, an angel of the Lord appeared. The heavy chains used to bind him fell off and the iron gates opened on its own. That was a good wonder, a mighty deliverance that no man can explain.

So beloved, you see that when you belong to God, you will surely experience his good wonders. He can turn tears into laughter. He can turn shame into glory. He can turn captivity into freedom. And today, our God, who is the God of wonders, will be turning your tears into laughter. He’ll be turning your shame into glory and every form of captivity in your life into freedom in Jesus’ name. The other part of God’s wonders that we learn about in today’s study is that of judgment. We learn that when people resist God, his wonders can bring judgment. You remember King Herod in Acts 12. He sat on his throne accepting the praises of men who called him a god. He refused to give glory to the true God. Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him down and he was eaten by worms. That was a wonder, but a terrible one. Another example is Ananas and Sapphira in Acts chapter 5. They lied about their offering, thinking they could deceive the Holy Spirit. But their judgment was instant. Both of them fell down and died. That was a bad wonder, a frightening reminder that our God in heaven can never be mocked.

Beloved, the same God who opened prison doors for Peter also judged Herod, Ananas, and Sapphira his wife. This now leads us to the next question. Who enjoys what? Those who enjoy good wonders are those who live in obedience and total surrender to God. The psalmist declared in Psalm 34:8, “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the man that trusteth in him. It is those who trust and obey him who see his hand at work in beautiful ways. On the other hand, those who resist his Lordship or claim to be Christians but live can cannally, they expose themselves to his judgment. I would like to emphasize the fact that in today’s study, our father in the Lord makes us understand that it is not only unbelievers who are not on the Lord’s side. He said to us that cannal Christians are also not on his side. So you may be attending church. People may know you to be a Christian but are you a cannal Christian? Canal Christians are always after the hand of God and not his heart. They always want the blessings of God without obeying his word. So God is asking you and I today. He’s asking whose side are you on? The choice is yours.

Remember also that you cannot afford to sit on the fence. Being neutral is not part of the options in God’s kingdom. I would like us to bow our heads and begin by appreciating the Lord. We say, “Father, thank you because you are the God of wonders.” Appreciate him. Say, “Father, I am grateful. Thank you for being my God. The God who does wonders without numbers. The God who fills our lives with pleasant things. Our God who satisfies us. receive our thanks in the name of Jesus. Now tell the Lord today, say, “Lord, I choose to be on your side forever. I choose you over and over and over again.” As we choose his side, also ask the Lord today. Say, “Lord, as I choose your side, let me experience your good wonders in my life, in my family, in my ministry, in all that concerns me in the name of Jesus.” Say, “Father, let me enjoy the rain of your good wonders upon my life in the name of Jesus. Let my life be filled with the practical manifestation of your good wonders in Jesus’ name.

Cry unto the Lord today and say, “Father, please deliver me from cannality and every form of compromise in the name of Jesus.” Ask the Lord today. Say, “Father, let find no place in my life. Let there be no room for it in the name of Jesus.” Ask the Lord today that our love for him would be true. that we will not love him because of the things we can get. Ask him for the grace to make him our priority that we will not compromise for anything else in the name of Jesus. Also ask the Lord today. Say, “Father, by your mercy, let your good wonders always speak over me. Let it always be my experience. Let judgment be far away from me and my household in the name of Jesus. Grant me the grace never to do anything that brings judgment close to us in the name of Jesus. Tell the Lord today. Say, “Father, make my life a testimony of your good wonders that will draw others to you in the name of Jesus. Let others hear my testimony and come to your saving knowledge in Jesus’ name. Let them hear my testimony and become a part of this great family of love in Jesus’ name. Begin to bless the name of the Lord and thank him for answers to prayers. Just worship him, give him thanks, adore his holy name. Lord, we bless your name. In Jesus’ name we have prayed. Amen.

Open Heavens 3 October 2025 Friday Hymn

HYMN 10 – In Christ Alone

1 In Christ alone my hope is found

He is my light, my strength, my song

This Cornerstone, this solid ground

Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace

When fears are stilled, when strivings cease

My Comforter, my All in All

Here in the love of Christ I stand

2 In Christ alone, who took on flesh

Fullness of God in helpless Babe

This gift of love and righteousness

Scorned by the ones He came to save

‘Til on that cross as Jesus died

The wrath of God was satisfied

For every sin on Him was laid

Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

3 There in the ground His body lay

Light of the world by darkness slain

Then bursting forth in glorious Day

Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory

Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me

For l am His and He is mine

Bought with the precious blood of Christ

4 No guilt in life, no fear in death

This is the power of Christ in me

From a life’s first cry to final breath

Jesus commands my destiny

No power of hell, no scheme of man

Could ever pluck me from His hand

‘Til He returns or calls me home

Here in the power of Christ I stand
