Open Heavens 31 August 2025 Sunday – Praise The Lord
MEMORISE: Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. Psalms 150:6
READ: Psalms 107:1-9 Open Heavens 31 August 2025
1 O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
3 And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.
4 They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.
5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
6 Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.
7 And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.
8 Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

Bible In One Year: Ezekiel 23-24

MESSAGE: – Open Heavens 31 August 2025 Sunday Daily Devotional
In 2 Samuel 6:14, the Bible says that David danced with all his might. God loved David so much and was always with him because he was always praising Him. Whenever demons tormented Saul and David played the harp, God’s presence would fill the room, and the demons would run away (1 Samuel 16:23). Psalm 22:3 says that God inhabits the praises of Israel. When you praise God regularly, demons cannot stay around you because once light comes in, darkness must flee (John 1:5).
Beloved, you must learn to praise God daily. In the Scriptures, you’ll find many reasons to praise Him. In Genesis 17:1, God calls Himself Jehovah Elshaddai, the God who is more than enough. In Genesis 18:9-14 and Jeremiah 32:27, He is revealed as the God of all flesh, with whom nothing is impossible. In Exodus 15:26, He introduced Himself as “…the Lord that healeth thee” because He is the Great Physician. In Psalm 24:7-10, He introduced Himself by two titles: The King of glory and the Lord of hosts.
In Psalm 23:1, He presents Himself as Jehovah Rohi, the Good Shepherd who provides everything you need. In Genesis 16:13, He is El-Roi, the All-seeing, All-knowing, ever attentive God. He cares intimately about you and knows you by name (Exodus 33:17). In Jeremiah 32:17-19, He is El Gibhor, the mighty God who rescues. In Exodus 17:15, He is called Jehovah Nissi, your mighty banner of deliverance. In Isaiah 1:24, He is Jehovah Sabaoth, the Lord of hosts; He fights visible and invisible battles on your behalf and gives you victory over the enemy.
According to Ezekiel 48:35, He is Jehovah Shammah, the ever-present One. He is always there when you need Him, and He never slumbers or sleeps (Psalm 121:4). He is the Alpha and Omega of your life (Revelation 21:6); He always has the first and final say (Isaiah 44:6). He alone is God (Psalm 86:10);
He is always good (Psalm 73:1), ever faithful (Lamentations 3:23), all-sufficient (Genesis 17:1), and never changing (Malachi 3:6). God is your comforter (John 14:16), deliverer (2 Samuel 22:2), helper (Psalm 54:4), teacher (John 14:26), strength, and song (Exodus 15:2).
He is your very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). He supplies all your needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19) and does exceeding, abundantly above all you can ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). He saved you and will keep you until the end (Jude 1:24).
Beloved, you have breath in you; therefore, you have every reason to praise God.

Open Heavens 31 August 2025 Sunday Commentary
Praise the Lord.
Our topic for today once more says praise the Lord. Today’s study reveals to us that praise is not just a song we sing in church on Sunday. It is a spiritual weapon, a lifestyle and a channel of divine presence. The Bible tells us in 2 Samuel 6:14 like we see in today’s study that David danced before the Lord with all his might. David was a man after God’s own heart because he understood the secret of praise. Praise was the atmosphere of his life. And because of that, God’s presence never departed from him. Where praise dwells, God dwells. And we know that where God dwells, demons cannot stay.
The scripture reminds us that when David played the harp before King Saul, that tormenting spirit left him. Why? Because God inhabits the praises of his people. When we praise God, we invite him in and when the Almighty steps in, you know for sure that darkness and oppression must flee. David is one man who understands that the presence of God is the believer’s greatest treasure. No wonder he longed for it more than riches, more than power, more than fame. The importance of God’s presence can never be overemphasized. Even Moses knew this and that was why he was never ready to take a step without the presence of God going with them.
Beloved today is Sunday again; praise is not just for days like this where we go to church and dance before the Lord. Praise is for daily living. When you make praise your habit, you make God’s presence your constant companion. No demon can torment a man or woman who lives in the atmosphere of praise. Therefore, if you make this atmosphere of praise your atmosphere, you can be sure to be living far above the reach of the enemy. Now, for us to also praise effectively, it is very important for us to know who God is. Praise flows naturally when you have a revelation of his greatness. The Bible introduces him by many names which we see in today’s study. each of them revealing a dimension of his glory. He is called Jehovah El Shadai, the God who is more than enough. He is the God of all flesh. With him nothing is impossible. Our God is Jehovah Rafa, the God who heals you. He is the King of glory, the Lord of hosts, the mighty in battle. Our God is Jehovah Rohi, the good shepherd who provides. He is Elroy, the God who sees and knows all.
We learned that he is Jehovah Nissi also your banner of victory. Our God is Jehovah Sabo, the Lord of hosts who fights for you. He is Jehovah Shama, the everpresent one. He is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. He is El Gibbor, the mighty God who rescues. Beloved, when you remember these names, how can you not praise him? Each name is a reminder of his power, a reminder of how much he loves us, a reminder of his faithfulness. Hallelujah. So why is it important for us to praise God continually? We learned from today’s study that praise is not optional. It is essential because praise shifts your focus. So instead of magnifying your problems, you magnify God. Praise brings victory. You remember Jehoshaphat and his army? When they praised God, their enemies destroyed themselves. Praise brings deliverance. When Paul and Silas sang hymns in prison, you remember what happened? Scripture says that the prison doors flung themselves open. Never forget also that praise sustains joy. When you praise God, depression cannot survive around you. Depression, heaviness in your spirit cannot survive in an atmosphere of genuine praise. Remember also that praise fulfils your purpose.
God created you to give him praise. So, when you praise him, you are doing that for which he created you. Hallelujah. Today’s study reminds us that being alive today is enough reason to praise God. Another important lesson to learn from today’s study is that the devil hates praise because it shifts the atmosphere. Never forget that praise is a weapon of war. One great music minister sang a song. He said, “First it was fragrance, then it turned to fire.” He said, “My worship is my weapon. This is how I win my battles.” We win battles through worship. We win battles when we praise the Lord. Hallelujah. And this is the very reason why the enemy is bent on ensuring that many believers do not praise God. When you complain, you invite heaviness. When you mumbo, you magnify your problems. But when you praise, you invite God into that situation. And the enemy knows that it is game over for him. Remember that scripture tells us in Isaiah 61:3 that God gives us the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. So, praise is beyond entertainment. It is spiritual warfare. When you dance before the Lord like David danced, chains break. When you lift your hands in worship, God arises on your behalf. So, today’s study admonishes us to make praise a lifestyle, not something we do occasionally or when we are in the gathering of people because it is time for praise and worship.
Be like David who said, “I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth. Do not wait until everything is perfect before you praise God. Praise him in the storm and he will come it. Praise him in the valley and he will lift you to the mountaintop. Praise him in your weakness and his strength will manifest. I would like us at this point to bow our heads and just appreciate the Lord. We say, “Father, thank you for the gift of life and for being more than enough for me. Thank him for being the dependable one. The one we can trust in. The one who is true to his word. The one who keeps his promises. Say, “Father, we are grateful in the name of Jesus.”
Now, ask the Lord today. Say, “Lord, please give me a heart that praises you daily in the name of Jesus.” Ask the Lord today for a heart that would praise him in every circumstance. A heart that would not be choosy about when to praise him. Ask the Lord today in the name of Jesus. Say, “Father, as I praise you, let your presence fill my life through and through in the name of Jesus. Let your presence fill my life. Let it fill all that concerns me in the name of Jesus.” Ask the Lord also today, say, “Lord, as I praise you, let every darkness, let every oppression around me disappear in the name of Jesus.” Say, “Lord, as I praise you, let every manipulation of the wicked in my life or around me disappear in the name of Jesus.”
Ask the Lord today, say, “Father, turn my praise into a weapon of victory and a weapon of deliverance in Jesus’ name.” Tell the Lord today, say, “Father, as I praise you, let me receive victories on every side in the name of Jesus. Victories over the enemy, victory over the manipulation of the wicked, victory over even battles I do not know about. Let me be more than a conqueror in the name of Jesus. As I praise you, Lord, let there be catastrophe in the camp of the wicked. Let there be confusion in the camp of the enemy. Let there be disagreements. Let there be conflicts in their midst until I receive my victory in the name of Jesus. Begin to bless the name of the Lord and thank him for answers to prayers. Father, we thank you because you are faithful. Will you hear us when we call? In Jesus’ name we have prayed. Amen.
Open Heavens 31 August 2025 Sunday Hymn
Hymn 17: Praise My Soul the King Of Heaven
1 Praise, my soul, the King of heaven;
to his feet your tribute bring.
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,
evermore his praises sing.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Praise the everlasting King!
2 Praise him for his grace and favor
to his people in distress.
Praise him, still the same as ever,
slow to chide, and swift to bless.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Glorious in his faithfulness!
3 Fatherlike he tends and spares us;
well our feeble frame he knows.
In his hand he gently bears us,
rescues us from all our foes.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Widely yet his mercy flows!
4 Angels, help us to adore him;
you behold him face to face.
Sun and moon, bow down before him,
dwellers all in time and space.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Praise with us the God of grace!
