24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

27 And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:

28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.

MESSAGE: – Open Heavens 5 August 2026 Wednesday Daily Devotional

In Yorubaland, where I come from, the elders have an adage that says, “The lantern cannot see its own bottom.

What they mean by this saying is that, no matter how knowledgeable a fellow is, there are areas in the fellow’s life that will be hidden from his or her view. This is why you must be willing to receive feedback from others who can see you more objectively than you can see yourself,

In Revelation 3:15-17, the Lord said that some people, according to their own judgment, believed they had everything going well for them because they were rich and appeared not to lack anything; however, by His own standards, they were wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.

If a person is too proud to receive feedback, people will see the fellow walking towards a ditch and leave him or her to fall into it. Proverbs 24:6 says that in the multitude of counsellors, there is safety. People who are open to corrections and feedback tend to escape many troubles, while those who think they know it all often stumble into avoidable problems. Jesus is described as the wisdom and power of God in 1 Corinthians 1:24, yet when He came to earth, He sat under teachers, listening to them and asking them questions (Luke 2:46-47), and the Bible recorded that He grew in wisdom (Luke 2:52). He was also open to feedback, as we see in Matthew 16:13-16, where He asked His disciples to tell Him what other men, and even they themselves think of Him.

In today’s Bible reading, Apollos was already an established teacher of the word before he met Aquilla and Priscilla. When they heard him teach, however, they recognized that he needed further insight and knowledge of God’s word. As a result, they took him aside to expound the way of the Lord to him more perfectly. Submitting to their mentorship and feedback helped Apollos become a better teacher of the word, who mightily proved to the Jews through the Scriptures that Jesus is the Savior.

Beyond submitting to mentors and being open to learning and growth, how a fellow receives and processes feedback will determine whether he or she will grow or remain stagnant. Beloved, if you want to grow in wisdom, you must be willing to humble yourself to listen and learn from others.

You should also ask the Holy Spirit for guidance at all times. I pray you will continue to grow in wisdom and favor before God and man, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Points for Open Heavens 5 August 2026 – Be Open To Feedback

1. Father, I thank You for the wisdom that comes from hearing and learning. Thank You for the people You have placed in my life to help me see areas I cannot see myself, in Jesus’ name.

2. Lord, I ask for mercy for every time I have been too proud to receive feedback, ignored wise counsel, or thought I knew it all, in Jesus’ name.

3. Father, give me a humble heart that is open to correction and feedback. Let me not be like those who are rich in their own eyes but wretched and blind according to Your standards, in Jesus’ name.

4. Lord, help me to hear and increase in learning, and to attain wise counsels as a man of understanding, in Jesus’ name.

5. Father, like Apollos, let me be teachable and open to learning from others, even when I already have knowledge and experience, in Jesus’ name.

6. Lord, I pray against every spirit of pride that makes people reject feedback and fall into avoidable problems. Let me walk in humility and safety through godly counsel, in Jesus’ name.

7. Father, help me to process feedback wisely, retaining what is good and discarding what is not, so that I may grow in wisdom and favor before God and man, in Jesus’ name.

8. Lord, like Jesus who sat under teachers and asked questions, let me never become too big to learn from others, in Jesus’ name.

9. Father, I pray for everyone who is too proud to receive feedback. Open their hearts to hear and learn so that they do not stumble into trouble, in Jesus’ name.

10. My personal prayer point: (Mention specific areas where you need to be more open to feedback and correction, and ask God for grace to receive and apply wise counsel).

11. Thank You, Father, for the promise that if I humble myself, I will grow in wisdom and understanding. I receive grace to be open to feedback all the days of my life, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
