22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

MESSAGE: – Open Heavens 9 September 2025 Tuesday Daily Devotional

I believe that humans have three kinds of eyes: physical l eyes, mental eyes, and spiritual eyes. Over the next few days, I will discuss these kinds of eyes. Your physical eyes are the two eyes that you use to see physical objects and the world around you. According to today’s Bible reading, they are the light of the body and are so important that Jesus restored the sight of every blind person that came to Him asking for sight during His earthly ministry.

In Bartimaeus’ case, He spoke His word, and that word supplied two brand-new eyes (Mark 10:46-52). In the case of the man in John 9:1-7, He released His anointing into ordinary mud, and from that mud, He created two brand-new eyes. In Mark 8:22-26, He touched a man who was blind twice. The first time He touched him, the man said that he could see men looking like trees. This wasn’t good enough for Jesus, so He touched him again. When you go through the Scriptures, you will discover that instance was the only time Jesus touched anybody for their healing twice. I am sure Jesus did this to show the importance of the physical eyes.

If anyone reading this devotional has problems with their physical eyes, I decree that God will touch such a person today, in the name of Jesus Christ. Since your physical eyes are the light of your body, what you see with them will determine the state of your body. If you want your body to be full of light, you will not look at things that come from the kingdom of darkness. You won’t watch certain movies or view certain pictures as they can quench the light in you and make you live in darkness. The devil is after your eyes because he knows that if he can darken them, he has succeeded in darkening your body, which is the temple of the Lord. Don’t let him succeed; look away from things that can bring darkness. Flee from every appearance of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22).

Samson was greatly helped by God, and God used him to achieve mighty things. However, the moment he began to fix his gaze on the wrong things, he opened himself to the enemy’s attack. The enemy removed his eyes, and he was plunged into darkness because he became careless with his eyes (Judges 14-16).

Beloved, be careful of what you fix your gaze on, and don’t give the enemy a chance to plunge you into darkness.

Key Point – Open Heavens 9 September 2025

Do not expose yourself to things that can plunge you into darkness.

Praise the Lord.

Once again, our topic for today is your eyes. In today’s devotional, our father and the Lord tells us of the three kinds of eyes that we have. The physical eyes, the mental and the spiritual eyes. But today we are considering the physical eyes. And we’re made to understand from today’s study that the light of the body is the eye. And this shows us that the condition of our eyes affects the condition of our entire body. It is with our eyes that we see and we perceive God’s creation. It is with our eyes that we recognize people. With our eyes we navigate the world around us.

A person without physical eyes is considered to be blind. Today’s study, however, also makes us understand that it is possible for those with eyes to fill their hearts and their lives with darkness when they view the wrong things. It is needless to say that in today’s world we have all kinds of information flying around with many of them seeking your attention bumping into your space even without permission. However, we are made to understand that we must be careful about the things that we consume with our eyes because our eyes are precious and whatever we allow our eyes to dwell on will determine whether we’ll be filled with light or darkness.

So, my dear, you need to consider the things that your eyes consume daily, the movies you watch, the pictures you behold, the books you read, the kinds of sites you visit, even with your mobile devices. In today’s age and time, the enemy has become even more strategic about his approach. It is even easier now to sin than it was before. in the comfort of one’s home and in the secrecy of his own room. A person can download darkness into his life. Do not be such a person. Do not let the enemy deceive you. The truth remains that if he can darken your eyes, he can darken your entire life. In part of our memory verse for today from the book of Psalm 101:3, the psalmist there speaking, scripture tells us, I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes. He was making a covenant. So, you must be deliberate about guarding your eyes. What you look at today can determine the kind of life you will live tomorrow. There are seeds being planted. Do not be deceived by the fact that you may not see the fruits today immediately. But you can be sure that they are there growing and before long you’d begin to see their manifestations in your life.

The enemy knows the power of the eyes. You’d notice that even in the Garden of Eden, Eve’s downfall began when she saw the tree that it was good for food and pleasant to the eyes. It was her physical eyes that betrayed her to sin. And I am sure she did not just look at that tree once. Instead of shutting the enemy up and walking away, she entertained him. Then the enemy used that opportunity to capitalize on it and bring her down. Scripture says that she saw that the tree was good for food and pleasant to the eyes. How about something which our father in the Lord talks about in today’s study also? He was anointed and mighty. But as anointed and as mighty as he was, he lost his destiny because of carelessness of his eyes. So, we too as the children of God in today’s generation must be vigilant. Be intentional about what you behold. Be intentional about what your children watch. Be intentional about the things that you let into your minds. Scripture tells us to fix our minds on things that are pure, things that are lovely and of good report. But the question is, how can you fix your mind on something that you have not beheld? So this is simple. The mind often meditates on what the eyes first behold. This means that your physical eyes are the first filter of holiness. If it does not enter in through your eyes, it would not be available to be meditated upon.

Dear brothers and sisters, if you leave your eyes unguarded, the enemy will take advantage of them. But if you guard them, they will remain channels of divine light only. Job made a covenant with his eyes in Job 31:1. He said, “I made a covenant with mine eyes. Why then should I think upon a maid?” So, we too must learn to discipline our sight. In a world filled with unholy images everywhere you see them on the billboards, on social media, even on television, it takes discipline and intentionality by the help of God to look away from evil. So beloved, what are you fixing your gaze on? Where do your eyes linger when no one is watching? The answer will determine whether your body is full of light or full of darkness. I would like us at this point to bow our heads and appreciate the Lord. We say, “Father, thank you for the gift of physical eyes.” Maybe you have eyes, and you can see. Why not appreciate the Lord today? Say, “Father, I am grateful. Thank you for the gift of eyes. Lord, receive my thanks in the name of Jesus.” Now, ask the Lord today.

Say, “Father, please touch and heal every eye condition in my life and in my family in the name of Jesus.” If you are trusting God for healing in your eyes, why not ask him today? Say, “Father, please touch my eyes. Heal my eyes.” Or maybe you know somebody who is in need of this. Say, “Lord, please touch such and such person. Heal them in the name of Jesus.” Ask the Lord today. Say, “Father, please deliver me from careless eyes that wander into sin in the name of Jesus.” Ask the Lord today. Say, “Father, please keep my eyes. Keep them, Lord, to only behold things that give you glory in the name of Jesus. Lord, help my eyes not to wander away carelessly, not to wander around without control in the name of Jesus. Ask the Lord today. Say, “Father, please help me to make a covenant with my eyes to keep them holy in the name of Jesus.” Say, “Father, help me today that I will make a covenant with my eyes not to defile them, not to look on unholy things, whether in public or in my own personal space in the name of Jesus.” Whether in public or in private, say, “Lord, help me in the name of Jesus.” Now ask the Lord also today say father fill my eyes daily with the light of your word and let my whole body be full of light in Jesus’ name.

Ask the Lord today for light that our eyes would be filled daily with his light and that our whole body by extension will also be full of light in the name of Jesus. Fill me with your light. Fill me through and through dear Lord in the name of Jesus. Also ask the Lord today say father please frustrate every satanic plan to darken my life through the gateway of my eyes in the name of Jesus any plan any scheme any orchestration to keep my body in darkness through my eyes say father in the name of Jesus let there fail let there be frustrated let there be disappointed in the name of Jesus let my body continually be filled with your light till the very end to your glory Glory in the name of Jesus. Begin to bless the name of the Lord and thank him for answers to prayers. Just worship him. Give him thanks. Father, we adore you. Our blessed redeemer, we give you thanks. Thank you, our father. In Jesus’ name we have prayed. Amen.

Open Heavens 9 September 2025 Tuesday Hymn

HYMN 31: Yield Not To Temptation

1. When we walk with the Lord,

In the light of His word,

What a glory He sheds on our way!

While we do His good will

He abides with us still,

And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:

Trust and obey!

For there’s no other way

To be happy in Jesus,

But to trust and obey.

2. But we never can prove

The delights of His love,

Until all on the altar we lay,

For the favour He shows

And the joy He bestows

Are for them who will trust and obey. [Refrain]

3. Then in fellowship sweet

We will sit at His feet,

Or we’ll walk by His side in the way,

What He says we will do,

Where He sends we will go,

Never fear, only trust and obey. [Refrain]
